Engines are made up of many moving parts, and those parts need to be properly lubricated to avoid damage. Oil in the engine provides this vital function. Over time, that oil breaks down and become contaminated with dust, dirt and debris from the engine as well as the environment. When that happens, oil can’t properly do its job. Regular routine oil changes are a very important part of preventative maintenance.
You should strive to keep your car in tip-top shape all year round; however, your car’s maintenance becomes especially important when the seasons turn. When the temperature changes, the condition of your car and the road changes with them. Preventative maintenance keeps your car from needing expensive and extensive maintenance in the future by getting rid of small issues early on. Sometimes your car will emit strange smells, make weird noises or shake while you are driving. Other times, it may not give you any indication that something is wrong. With Seasonal preventative Maintenance you can ensure your vehicle is always running smoothly and does not encounter any larger issues in the long run.
Every vehicle since 1996 has been equipped with an On-Board Diagnostic system. Discrepancies in performance levels are reported through your vehicle’s computer system. Once “Check Engine” or “Service Engine” light is displayed on your dash board your next step should be to seek out an engine diagnostic. It is important to deal with problems as soon as this happens to avoid causing other complications or failures. Usually having the “Check Engine” light on means your engine is not running efficiently.
Brakes are one of the key safety components of your vehicle, therefore parts and regular service is very important. Our brake packages are fairly priced and we have different options available.
Shocks/Struts.
First of all, it is important to note that note all vehicle have both shocks and struts. Some have just struts and some vehicles have only shocks. Shocks are part of the overall suspension and a strut is a complete suspension assembly. The shocks and/or struts in your car perform two functions. They dampen spring oscillation and secondly, they aid in ride control. Worn shocks and/or struts can accelerate the wear of your tires and suspension parts (ball joints, steering linkage, springs and C.V. joints)
Battery/Starting/Charging.
The purpose of a battery is to supply necessary current to the starter motor and the ignition system while cranking to start the engine. Once engine is running the altenator takes over and supplies power to your car. If altenator stops charging the red “Battery” light will go on, therefore your vehicle is running on battery power only. This only happens for a limited time – you need to get this looked at immediately. It is important to ensure that your vehicle battery is in good shape & the altenator is charging.
Tires are one of the most important parts of seasonal auto maintenance because changing temperatures have a lot of impact on your tires. When snow and ice hit, you may need winter tires to provide extra traction to your vehicle. Even in summer, over time, your tires will wear down. By rotating your tires regularly, they will wear down evenly, which will extend the life of your tires and enable your car to drive smoother.
